On Constitutional Push Back to California's Sanctuary State Law

San Diego County voted in with a 3-1 margin to defy California's Sanctuary State law.  In October 2017, Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) signed SB-54, which was passed by the Democrat majority in the California legislature, which vastly limited who state and local law enforcement can hold, question and transfer at the request of federal immigration authorities.  Basically, the Sanctuary State law mandates that California's law enforcement officials defy federal immigration law. 

When appearing at the National Press Club, Governor Brown highlighted his intractability to enforcing existing federal immigration law as he proclaimed that California National Guard troops would not perform immigration enforcement activities, including vehicle repair or monitoring security cameras.

Some California municipalities and local governments have formally voted to follow federal law, which is contrary to SB-54.  Many of these jurisdictions have joined in the Sessions Justice Departments lawsuits regarding SB-54, AB 450 which prohibits employers from allowing warrant-less access to non public workplace areas and AB 103 which enjoins local governments from expanding or making new contracts for new civil immigration detention centers.

Jerry Brown Not Acclimatizing to Trump's Ship of State

In an interview with BBC Radio, California Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) rebuked the Trump Administration for backing away from Obama era Climate Change goals to galvanize his base. Brown vowed to act to stabilize the "Ship of State".

The Trump Administration has taken a more skeptical approach to anthropomorphic (man-made) Climate Change.  Trump EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt cast doubt on the 2009 finding that man made climate change harms human health.  In June 2017, Pruitt reportedly launched an internal critique of mainstay climate science . In addition, esident Trump has indicated that the United States may withdraw from the November 2015 Paris Climate Change Accord unless more favorable terms can be reached,

Such deviations from the settled climate science shibboleth triggers progressives like celebrity science enthusiast Bill Nye. As it became evident that President Trump was not going to be the environmental internationalist like his predecessor, blue state politicians tried to stand the wound to America's bona fides to the world. Governor Brown acted as a self appointed American environmental envoy traveling to China to promise that not all of the country was poised for perceived environmental rollbacks.  The 79 year old California Governor also announced that San Francisco would host a global Climate Change Summit in September 2018, with or without President Trump.  Many cities and states, governed by leftists, have signaled that they intend to comply with the Paris Climate Change Accords, even if the United States federal government does not. 

As Nicaragua recently ratified the Paris Climate Change Accords, CNN laments that only the US and Syria remain as non-signatories to the international accord. The problem is that this is a non-binding "treaty" (which was not ratified by the US Senate despite President Obama being a signatory). Despite 197 nations signing on to the Paris Climate Change Accord, few countries are actually complying the the goals, so they effectively are worthless commitments  Still, progressives scorn the United States for not buying into the transfer of wealth to the Global South under the guise of fighting climate change. 

Puckish pundits ponder if Governor Brown would navigate the ship of state with Moonbeams.

Carly Fiorina on the California Water Shortage

Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) has imposed emergency water restrictions on California residents due to the drought, which include up to $500 a day fines on households who take too long of showers. This seems rather draconian on residents, especially since agricultural interests do not suffer similar strictures.

Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlitt Packard who unsuccessfully ran to represent California in the US Senate in 2012, has not minced words about where to place the blame for the drought-- liberal politics.

Carly Fiorina, who made an unsuccessful bid to represent the California in the US Senate in 2012 and is currently contemplating a run for the Republican Presidential nomination, did not mince words at who to blame-- liberal ideology.

During an interview with Glenn Beck to promote her upcoming book on leadership as well as her inchoate Republican Presidential campaign, spoke knowledgeably about how Golden State liberals prevented building new aqueducts and hydration infrastructure, despite a doubling of the population.  Moreover, environmental activitists who championed federal lawsuits to protect the delta smelt which has turned what Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA 22nd) called an agricultural Garden of Eden back into a desert. The dirty truth is that the environmental suits root water rights to California's coastal urban areas while parching inland agricultural California.





Fiorina's fact that the water used in almond production alone represents 70% of California residential use shows how liberals who have run California for the last 30 years have made tragic mistakes on water use and infrastructure decisions.

Climate Change evangelists like Jerry Brown prefer big government solutions which take away individuals freedom to address insolvable issues like assumed anthropogenic global warming.  The way that liberals are progressing, they may start articulating Mikail Gorbachev's modest proposal to tackle  the "ecological crisis"-- eliminate 90% of the human population.


Some Tea Party types and activists in the conservative base question Carly Fiorina's viability of winning the Republican nomination. Her media hits and recent CPAC appearances have shown that Fiorina is an effective foil to criticizing Hillary Clinton.  Fiorina's prowess on providing leadership against liberal environmental excess may be another important element in developing the Republican message in 2016.

Governor Moonbeam and the Green Global Leadership Test

As Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was barnstorming the mainstream media before the presumed Republican presidential candidate makes his intentions official, he spoke about Climate Change on Late Night with Seth Myers.




The Lamestream Media would love to paint Senator Cruz as one who sets the world on fire, not just from misunderstood political metaphors but also due to partisan politics on the environment.

Ardent environmentalist Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) used his appearance on Meet the Press as a forum to besmirch Senator Cruz as being unfit for office due to a green global leadership test.

Although this is Jerry Brown's fourth term as Governor of California, long time political observers can recall how Governor Moonbeam hesitated in taking prevailing scientific wisdom in eradicating the Mediterranean fruit fly in 1981, which compounded problems.   Lest anyone believe that Jerry Brown was virtuously standing up for green health concerns, when he ran for governor in 2010, Brown quipped: "If I see a Medfly, I'm going to spray that sucker. I'm not waiting this time."

Notwithstanding Governor Moonbeam's scientific shilly shallying on the Medfly, Brown backs his bluster against a Tea Party bete noir with the 90% scientific consensus statistic.  Well, at least Brown did not use the Al Gore settled science canard.  Wonder if how much of this consensus was based on the falsified East Anglia hockey stick model.  Then there is the temptation for climate scientists can  to claim "the sky is falling" for more money to study the issue.

Senator Cruz noted that satellite data over the last 17 years has not shown any increase in temperatures.

What have leading climate scientists had to say about this mercurial anomaly?

Governor Moonbeam's Green Global test seems little more than a progressive popularity contest and paint your political opponents as ignorant knuckle draggers.  As Governor Brown admitted on Meet the Press, he would have run for President (again) if he were only 10 years younger. But he probably would have run as a watermelon candidate-- green on the outside and red on the inside. 

So. Cal. School Kids Forced To Take a Knee

As school starts, students need become accustomed to new routines. But some things should never be countenanced. 

Some parents from the Calimesa Elementary School in Yucaipa, California (around 80 miles east of Los Angeles) were outraged when they learned of a new policy which required grammar school students to kneel down before a school administrator until they are excused.

Calimesa Principal Dana Carter

Calimesa Elementary School Principal Dana Carter reportedly instituted the policy as a "positive way to enforce safety". In this safety schema, students were required to kneel down on one knee after lunch or recess and wait for the principal or another school administrator to dismiss them. 

 Superintendent Cali Binks

 After some adroit parental pressure and inquiries from KCAL-TV, Yucaipa Calimesa Unified School District Superintendent Cali Binks announced that this take a knee "positive behavior intervention" would no longer be enforced at Calimesa Elementary. The Inland Empire based school district will hold a future meeting to plan with parents on different safety options to tame the Wildcats (the elementary school's mascot). 

 Reacting to the one knee policy, one parent exclaimed: “I feel that the principal wants to be like a king, and we don’t have kings in America.” This policy was outrageous as it inculcated vassalage into elementary education. In addition, the powers that be leaned on the canard "for safety reasons".

It would be curious to learn what has changed in dealing with energetic adolescents that convinced these school administrators that their their wards must periodically kneel before them.  Would such a practice merit an investigation by child protective services if an individual parent were to require it?

While this kneeling practice was deplorable, it is prudent to reserve judgment on the "safety concerns" for the government  to make compelling case for the need  for alternate "safety" procedures.  While census statistics indicate that the areas demographics are between 70% to 85% white, it is worth noting Calimesa Elementary School's academic goals are couched in whether students are English proficient.  Moreover, the Calimesa Elemetary School's website offers translations for Spanish (with a Mexican flag), Portuguese (with a Portuguese flag), Russian, Japanese, Korean, French and German. Perhaps school administrators have difficulty communicating with their students. 

But school administrators should not have to worry about pesky things like worrying about order.  They have more important things to instruct, bow to power and being servile to government authority.  Then there are the innovations which California Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) has signed into law, like teaching homosexual history and LGBTQ? contributions starting at an early age.  Or implementing the transgender students' bill, which allows public school students to choose which restroom they identify with at any given moment.
