Student Activist Emma Gonzalez's "Modest Proposals" on Sensible Gun Reform Now

Emma Gonzalez, one of the prominent progressive student activists who emerged from the Parkland Florida High School shooting, participated in a panel on "Guns, Violence and Student Activism: A Push for Change" before the  Education Writers Association conference at the University of Southern California.

Ms. Gonzalez  has progressed from perseverating on her fifteen school mates and two teachers who were slain by troubled expelled former student during her emotional "Six Minute and Twenty Second" speech at the March for Our Lives in Washington DC.

Responding to instances of gun violence, Gonzalez shot her mouth off opining that it was cheaper just to have a gun grab.  What was more memorable than the pat answer to take away AR-15s was her profane exhortation that people who wanted to shoot such firearms should join the Army and defend their fucking country (sic).

Aside from the crudity of the comment, it is ironic that Gonzalez urges gun enthusiasts to defend America.  Gonzalez chose to attire herself at the big gun march in military gear wearing a Cuban flag patch.  Hmm.   Now she is advocating gun grabs by the government. Wonder where else this has happened? How about: Nazi Germany; Cuba; Venezuela

It is sad to see how the left continues to exploit Parkland High student activists like David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez to push for Gun Control.  These traumatized teens certainly had compelling stories when they could relate the travesty in which they had to endure.  But now that they opine on the political stage and advocate for broad public policy, it is no longer out of the mouths of babes and they are not bullet proof from criticism or skeptically challenging their suggestions.

Since the election of President Donald Trump, much of the radicalized Left in the Democrat party has sought to enflame their electorate through identity politics and mass movements.  The Women Who Hate Trump March the day after the 45th President's inauguration and the March for Our Lives in March 2018 were supposed to bring down the ramparts and inspire the masses to bring down this Presidency and his presumably backwards policies. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL 23rd) recently highlighted her alignment with the gun grabbing movement as an obvious wedge issue pitch for the 2018 Midterm Elections

Alas, both the Womens' March and the supposed students' March for Our Lives have not inspired sustained fulmination. If one looks to polling, the Blue Wave seems dubious and Trump Presidential approval ratings are increasing, despite a barrage of negative press from the mainstream media.

Using these students as tools to push for political change may well backfire.  David Hogg's profane pontifications to hurt those associated with gun rights (particularly the NRA)  has unwittingly spurred a multitude of new NRA memberships.  Emma Gonzalez's obscene observations about the AR-15 and seeming disparagement of serving one's country will reverberate in the minds of many newfound Great Revolt Trump voters  as did Senator John Kerry's (D-MA)  2004 "Get good grades or get stuck in Iraq" flak

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL 23rd) condemned the National Rifle Association as being just shy of a terrorist organization.  DWS said this in response to comments from the newly elected NRA President Oliver North, who attacked students of the Parkland Florida High School shooting of engaging in civil terrorism by using lawbreaking and intimidation to push for gun control.






The disgraced former head the of Democratic National Committee echoed the lead of Parkland Florida High School student activist David Hogg in gorgonizing the NRA to promote a gun grabbing policy, presumably under the guise of "common sense gun control" aimed at so called assault weapons.

Wasserman Schultz illustrates the tension in the Democrat Caucus towards Election 2018.  On the one hand, Democrats have strived to take advantage of reshaped Congressional districts (particularly in Pennsylvania and Florida) to put forth candidates and campaigns which would attract independent voters to regain control of the House of Representatives.  On the other hand, the swell of confidence over a presumed "Red Wave" compels some progressives to publicly embrace a radical wish list of impeachment and gun grabbing.


In the Salena Zito and Brad Todd best seller "The Great Revolt" (2018), one of the the significant segments of supporters of Donald Trump was "Girl Gun Power".  Second Amendment advocates will be energized to go to the polls in November for the mid terms if they fear that their constitutional rights are in danger.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL 23rd) thought that she could drive the Democrats to victory by coronating First Lady/Senator/Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton(D-NY) at the Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia.

However, Mrs Clinton faced a spirited progressive campaign by Socialist turned Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders (Socialist-Vermont) and barely squeaked by for victory, mainly on the backs of Super-Delegates (elected Democrats pledging support to a candidate).

On the eve of the kick off of the Democrat National Convention, Wikileaks released 20,000 damning DNC emails, showing how the upper echelon of the party had the fix in for Hillary! to win. While this was not surprising, the DNC Leaks revelations were ugly and unfortunately timing for DWS.

Initially, Wasserman Schultz lost her speaking slot.  Then came word that she would ease out of the DNC chair at the end of the week to Democrat operative (and erstwhile CNN "political analyst") Donna Brazile and move to become an honorary chair of the Clinton/Kaine campaign. However it still seemed that DWS would gavel the convention and might even speak.

This changed on the morning of the start of the Democrat Convention when Wasserman Schultz was pointedly and persistently jeered when speaking before a breakfast of her home Florida state delegation.


Now it seems that Little Debbie will not be gaveling the start to the convention.  Things are getting ugly in the City of Brotherly Love, and Philly sports fans haven't even been riled.  Not to mention that "It's hot as hell in Phil-a-del-phi-a".

Spinning the Florida 13 Sink Hole

Last month, the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) sent out a fundraising letter for the Florida 13th Congressional Special Election to support their candidate Alex Sink.  This Congressional race, where Democrats outspent Republicans on television by a 4 to 1 margin, centered on the Affordable Care Act.  Sink promised to reform Obamacare whereas  Tea Party inspired Republican challenger David Jolly (R-FL 13th) advocated outright overturning Obamacare.

After Jolly won the Special Election, the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) had some fun doing red pen edits on this DCCC messaging missive. 

Democrats could not stop spinning the Sink hole.  DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL 23rd) sounded like Baghdad Bob in her spin control for the loss on the race.

Undoubtedly, Democrats will follow an Alinskyite approach to campaigning, demonizing an archtypical opponent, be it the Koch Brothers or House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH 8th).  But even after ad hominen attacks and class warfare campaigns, Democrats will need a positive message.  The minimum wage hike is more of a minor wedge issue which pays off its union support (by raising pay scales for all unionized employees) but it will need an overarching issue.  

After the results from the Florida 13 Special Election, it will be interesting if they double down and remain all in by running on Obamacare elsewhere.  It could be, as national Democrats are encouraging Ms. Sink to run again against Jolly in the November General Election. Maybe that is a hangover from Sink's jolly concession speech.

In mythical Greece, Medusa had the mesmerizing look. At the Democrat National Convention in Charlotte, DNC Chair Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz had an incredible make-over.

Maybe this was a bad hair day for the Democrat National Party Chair. But considering DWS's rhetorical rubbish that she spewed regarding the lack of dissent when Democrat elites strong armed party platform changes on God and Jerusalem maybe she was working her wiles to seek the stoner vote.  After all, President Obama is depending on Harold and Kumar.

DWS's Alternate Universe

DNC Chair Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL20th) insisted that the omission of God from the Democrat Party Platform and not acknowledging Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was just a technical oversight.  DSW noted that President Obama wanted the platform to reflect his long held personal views.  More telling, she maintained that there was no dissent on the floor over the platform changes.




If you wonder why Anderson Cooper from CNN opined that DSW was on an alternate planet, watch the proceedings and decide on the veracity of the DNC chair's viewpoint.



Again, it seems like Debbie Wasserman Schultz's PR could be mistaken with Baghdad Bob.

The Process of Budgeting A Straight Answer from the DNC Chair

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL 20th) appeared on FNC's Special Report to bash the so called Ryan-Romney Budget.  But she seems to have gotten stumped on fillibustering over the budgetary process.  Brett Baier gently asked the head of the Democrat National Committee where was a Democrat budget in the United States Senate.



This sort of Donkey-Kong cognitive dissonance is common-place.  Recently, an acquaintance was urging friends to prevent cuts in the NHS  budget.  When I kindly suggested focusing efforts on convincing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) to pass a budget, which the upper chamber has not done in nearly 1100 days, I got the standard lefty line that blames Republicans.  When the budgetary process was explained that it only needed a simple majority, the next tactic was to demonize the source, but then pretending like the insipid interlocutor was just joking.

The Blame Bush mantra will work on the base voter, but it is unclear if that will inspire as many as during the 2008 cycle, especially in an anemic growth economy.  But independent voters will not be impressed by transparent partisan pap, especially when their pocketbooks are hurting. 

Maybe the DNC needs to embrace change by switching messengers.  Perhaps Vice President Joe Biden is available.  Biden recently gave such a following answer about the oil industry that he spoke for 11 minutes seemingly without using a period.
