Last month, the Iowa Agriculture Summit served as a blue ribbon show for prospective Republican Presidential candidates. As the Hawkeye State is a leading producer of ethanol, nearly all of the politicos onstage contorted themselves to somehow favor continued subsidies of the biofuel.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) went out on a limb and remained true to his conservative credentials by refusing to embrace ethanol on the hustings. Remarkably, Cruz was the only candidate onstage that got a standing ovation for his honesty.
People are hungry for authenticity. Will those working the political fields embrace this desire in the electoral marketplace or will politicians revert to serving up fast food which sows the seeds of our destruction?
