On Skittles and Syrian Refugees
Donald Trump Jr. posted a meme which stirred up considerable controversy on Twitter. The Republican Presidential nominee's eldest son shared a graphic which compared the Syrian refugee conundrum to a bowl of Skittles with a few poisoned candies mixed in.
Some chaffed at analogizing the immigration issue with a tampered bowl of candy. Progressives impugned perceived strands of racism.
Trump fans thought that the metaphor mirrored the difficulty of accepting groups of refugees without proper vetting. This Twitter controversy comes on the heels of news that the US Immigration and Naturalization service conferred citizenship upon over 800 individual who were actually slated for deportation, but they were finally processed without matching up their digital fingerprints.

Donald Trump on Time Magazine's Person of the Year
Time Magazine announced the 2015 Person of the Year. German Prime Minister Angela Merkel who led the European Community in its response to the Syrian Immigration Crisis, was named the Person of the Year. The runner up was ISIS leader , Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Billionaire Republican Presidential hopeful Donald J. Trump came in third.
But this snub did not stop Mr. Trump from trying to dominate the headlines by posting a sour grapes tweet about Time Magazine's choice.
Wonder how Trump will react if he does not score huuuuuge victories in early contests like the Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire primary. Alas, it does not take much imagination to anticipate the narcissistic ire which such defeats will inspire.

Trey Gowdy on Women and Children Refugees
Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC 4th), the Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Refugees, offered a strong rebuke to President Barack Obama's mockery of Republicans who are chary about large scale unvetted Syrian refugee resettlement as people who are afraid of women and children.
It should be noted that 47 House Democrats voted in favor of putting a hold on Syrian Refugee resettlement in the U.S..
