House Speaker Paul Ryan on Textbook Racism
Despite House Speaker's Paul Ryan's reluctant admission that he would vote for presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump in November, the House Speaker has sought to distance himself from the Manhattan Mogul's meandering mouth.
Speaker Ryan refused to be associated with Mr. Trump's injudicious attacks against Judge Gonzalo Curiel's character on the basis of race.
Ryan went further to illustrate that Trump's charges were a textbook definition of racism.

Bernie Sanders on Racism and America
Senator Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT) spoke before the Liberty University convocation. The curmudgeonly candidate for the 2016 Democrat Presidential nomination wanted to dialogue with those whom he may not agree.
Sander's pronouncement on American originating from racist roots may have been colored by his experience from the Netroots conference earlier this summer where he was heckled by Black Lives Matter activists.

Louis Farrakhan on Flags
In less than a week after the racist shooting at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, there has been a remarkable public retreat regarding the Confederate Battle Flag, which the killer trumpeted as one of his racist inspirations.
Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC) acted promptly and requested that the state legislature pass bills removing the stars and bars from the State Capitol and into a museum. Several other states have made motions to remove the flag or insignia from state property. Major retailers such as Walmart , Ebay and Amazon have decided to stop selling the rebel banner. Warner Brothers has resolved excise the Confederate Battle Flag from all Dukes of Hazard merchandise and future public releases.
Despite the deft political maneuvers by Republican leadership to remove Confederate symbols made prominent by anti-Civil Rights Democrats (e.g. Democrat Governor Fritz Hollings put the stars and bars on the South Carolina state capitol in 1962), such political gestures are insufficient to the perpetually aggrieved class. Rush Limbaugh predicted that the next target by makegrates would be the American Flag. How right he was.
The Reverend Louis Farrakhan, speaking before the Metropolitan AME church in Washington DC, used a planning session for an October Millions for Justice mobilization to rail against the racism which he perceives is embodied in the Stars and Stripes.
Farrakhan is positioning the October event as "Justice or else".
School children used to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to a flag for which it stands. It seems that we will be determining if the American flag stands for "Justice for all" or "Just us".

Martin O'Malley Exploits the Charleston Church Shooting
Longshot 2016 Democrat Presidential hopeful Former Governor Martin O'Malley (D-MD) used the atrocity of nine people being shot at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina as an opportunity to sound hip, fund-raise off the the tragedy and pitch his pet issues.
Soon after the shootings in South Carolina, the O'Malley campaign released an email denouncing the NRA, touting O'Malley's "F" rating with the Second Amendment organization, while asking for"support" to fight for gun control as well as his fledgling campaign.
O'Malley's rhetoric repeatedly used the colloquial phrase "I'm pissed". That does not sound presidential but then again President Obama used the "N" word when granting an interview to WTF podcasts, so perhaps deviancy has been defined downward. Nonetheless, it seems garish to push for more gun control before the dead have been laid to rest. But as Rahm Emmanuel posited don't let a crisis go to waste.

Jimmy Carter Runs the Race Yet Again
Recently, former President Jimmy Carter gave a provocative interview with AARP magazine which alleged that many Americans have racist tendencies. Perhaps the 90 year old former President still ruefully remembers his own role in the Civil Rights movement and that colors his judgment.
After the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Brown v. Board of Education s in 1954, Jimmy Carter served on the Sumter County (Georgia) School Board which did not school desegregation in Carter's home town. In fact, this school board tried to block construction of a new "Negro Elementary School" in 1956 because it was too close to a "white school" and "the children, both colored and white, would have to travel the same streets and roads in order to reach their respective schools.” To that end, Carter requested that the state school board stop construction until a new site could be found. The state rejected the proposal because of the staggering cost. So Carter and the rest of the Sumter County School Board reassured parents that they “would do everything in its power to minimize simultaneous traffic between white and colored students in route to and from school.”
People can change or learn to hide their seamy side better. But the nonagenarian former President both impugns many Americans for harboring racist tendencies. Moreover, Mr. Carter has tarred of Southern Republicans and Tea Partiers as racists.
Prior to the Obama Administration, many Americans considered Jimmy Carter to be the worst President in American history. In his post-Presidential years, Mr. Carter had redeemed much of his reputation by his association with Habitat for Humanity and the Carter Center by "waging peace and fighting disease".
Yet in the last 10 years, "the Elder" Carter has stridently injected himself into politics.
If advisors cared to protect Mr. Carter's flagging reputation, they ought to ease him out of the limelight for his own good. Or maybe he wants to reclaim the mantle of being the Worst President in American History.

Allen West: "In the NBA, it's like outer space Al -- the higher you get, the darker it gets"
After the 2015 Academy Awards nominations did not include any nods for black actors and actresses, the Reverend Al Sharpton grabbed headlines which racially acrimonious analogies about the Oscars.
Former Congressman Allen West (R-FL 22nd), who recently became CEO of the Dallas Texas based National Center for Policy Analysis, countered Sharpton's intimations that racism influenced the Academy Awards nominations by citing sports analogies. Sports allow us to celebrate excellence and achievement not about proportioned prosperity.
As Americans celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday, we should remember that the Civil Rights movement sought to allow the equality of opportunity not of achievement.
