Donald Trump on the Boy Who Cried MAGA

President Donald Trump on Jussie Smollett - The Boy Who Cried MAGA

The Chicago Police Department attributed actor Jussie Smollett's motive for staging a hoax hate crime in Streeterville, Chicago during on polar blast on January 29th as an attempt to garner a higher salary on the Fox TV series "Empire".

Perhaps, but how does that square with Jussie Smollett's emotional softball interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.

To that end, Smollett opined that the reason why he was attacked was because he comes at the Trump Administration "really, really hard".  Smollett has been quite visible in his political activism.  And enquiring minds want to know if there were connections (or just political opportunism) between the Smollett drama and Democrat Presidential hopeful Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) offering anti-lynching legislation.

Some Thoughts Should Be Kept Close to the ScotteVest (sic)

Scott Jordan is an entrepreneur who developed a line of clothing which allows for fashionably carrying gadgets within the garments.  Jordan even went on ABC's Shark Tank in 2012 in a bid to raise funds for his technology enabled clothing (but Jordan  rejected the the offers).

ScotteVest snowballed into a $10 million company by 2015.

ScotteVest's pricey e-commerce product line  were often seen advertised on Fox News, presumably to appeal to geeky traveling businessmen who tired of fumbling gadgets when they went through TSA lines.

ScotteVest CEO Scott Jordan may have unraveled this fashion market niche by oversharing on social media.  Scott Jordan had developed a reputation of being an outspoken CEO on social media, pumping products and pimping his progressive politics. However Jordan recently shared on Facebook a smarmy post which revealed marketing strategy while denigrating his customers.

While one could certainly see a small time celebutard who is full of himself to contemptuously sneer at the little people on whom you've made your millions while taking a chair lift in Ketchum ski resort.  But it is almost unfathomable that he would share this "burn" on social media. It really makes one wonder, to use Jordan's parlance, who is the "f**king idiot?

After Jordan's Facebook faux-pas festered for a few days, the ScotteVest CEO posted an incomplete apology on Twitter, which linked to the original Facebook post. Unfortunately, the Facebook post had been deleted.

No doubt that this story certainly won't make ScotteVest's media buzz page. But the internet never forgets. The question is whether ScotteVest's customers will be willing to forget that they are considered to be gullible f**king idiots" by the guy profiting from their sales.

Social Media is a wonderful way for companies to reach customers. One need not be "Always Be Closing" when sharing on social media and genuineness is a way to cement bonds with fickle customers of an expensive, niche products.  But denigrating the demographic which lined one's pockets is an odd way to reach out to customers.  A smart CEO would have kept his crass critiques of customers closer to his ScotteVest.

Enjoy your  après-ski canapés and hope that your cup is not forever full of sour grapes.

ESPN Cans Curt Schilling Over Transgendered Bathroom Tweet

ESPN fired former Major League Baseball star pitcher and TV Color Commentator Curt Schilling because of sharing a meme on transgender bathrooms on Twitter.

Disney owned ESPN insisted that the company was dedicated to inclusiveness, so it terminated someone with a view which different from the current politically correct line.  It is intriguing that Disney owned ABC Good Morning America report blurred out the image of a transvestite who would have been eligible to use whatever bathroom which he/she/zei felt like using.  It seems that the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness can not be particularized in a reductio ad abusurdum.

This was not Schilling's first run in with social media PR challenges.  A couple of years ago, Schilling went on attack mode against a Twitter troll who sexually harassed his daughter  sparked by congratulations over admission to Salve Regina University.

Later in 2015, Schilling was suspended from covering the Little League World Series for sharing a controversial tweet which compared Muslim "population infiltration" with Nazis.

There seems to be an academic and corporate corporate push to be intolerant towards "ciscentrism" and those who do not acquiesce to "the new normal" regarding self designated transgendered bathroom fluidity. It is dubious if ESPN would punish an employee for sharing progressive political memes.

Bruce Springsteen, et ali, have forgone concerts in North Carolina while the Bathroom Law is in effect. The NBA has threatened to pull the All Star game unless the Tar Heel State relents on traditional notions that those with male genetalia should not evacuate their excrement around little girls. During a NBC Today Townhall meeting, Manhattan mogul Donald Trump insisted that just not worrying about transgenders using whatever bathroom they like is no problem.

From its inception, DC-Jockularity recognized the convergence of sports and public policy.  ESPN's aggressive application of standards reinforces the idea that ABC/Disney/ESPN is a progressive entity which pushes its agenda even unto sports coverage and will not brook dissent.

Cruz Decimates Dirty Trick Charge

In the wake of losing the Iowa Caucuses, Republican Presidential hopefuls Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump have been making hay about an alleged dirty trick in Iowa.  The some operatives in the Sen. Cruz (R-TX) campaign as well as Sen. Rubio (R-FL) grassroots activists passed along the information that Carson was going off the campaign trail and would be making a big announcement.

While Senator Cruz did make a public apology that his staff did not pass along subsequent media reports that Carson was just going off the campaign trail to fly to Florida for a change of clothes, this was insufficient for Dr. Carson who wanted heads to roll in the Cruz campaign.

Trump has gone so far as to declare himself the real winner of the Hawkeye Cauci and demanded a do-over to make things right.

When pressed to answer for this campaign tactic, Cruz answered by impeaching the press.

Will this inconvenient truth quash the ersatz controversy.  Of course not.

Dr. Carson is getting more media spots in the last couple of days to build his brand then he has received in weeks.  Mr. Trump regains the media circus spotlight while establishing a potential charge that the Republicans treated him unfairly, so he would be justified to run a third party campaign.  The Republican establishment will be happy to sully Cruz as his platform threatens the Cocktail Party business as usual.  And the media loves a Republican food fight, especially since it draws attention away from the fledgling campaign of Democrat First Lady/Senator/Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D-NY)

Channeling The Force on the Hawkeye Hustings

Presidential candidates spend lots of time doing retail politics in New Hampshire and Iowa to convince first contest voters to support them.  Often they repeat the same refrains time after time, which gets to be old hat to journalists on the campaign beat but sounds fresh to new audiences.

So it's refreshing when a candidate breaks from well worn scripts to show some humanity.  Senator Ted Cruz let loose with a couple of classic Star Wars impressions during a public availability in Iowa.

The coven on ABC's "The View" was not impressed with Cruz's impressions of Yoda and Darth Vader as they called the exercise embarrassing.  Of course the self proclaimed comediennes who are regulars on The View lean so far left that they would never have a kind word for a Republican. But few GOP primary voters would be bewitched enough to watch the televised progressive feminist gab-fest.

This is not the first time in which Cruz has publicly demonstrated his audiographic memory on cinematic notable quotables. In  November, Cruz did an off-the-cuff rendition of the Miracle Max scene from "The Princess Bride" (1987).   Will the next media moment be from Monty Python's "And Now for Something Completely Different" (1972)  or from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (1975).
